July 19

We said our fond fairwells to Colin this morning as he headed down to Anchorage.

Thanks, Colin!  What a treat to have you meet us here in Alaska....

After leaving the UAF it started raining ..... stopped to get gas at the Delta Junnction.

.... where upon Larry discovered a completely flat tire..

No worries - this gas station had a full service bay out back.

The mechanic even patched the tube for us - again.... just wonderful  people.

I saw a couple of huge moose along the sides of the road... and lots of rain. The last hundred miles was about 42 degrees, windy, and very wet.

Stopped in and had dinner at Fast Eddy's before heading over to our cozy ambulance accommodations at Thompson's Eagle's Claw hostel and campground.  Vanessa was gracious and offered us an afgan and blanket to add to our comfort.  Mark even had a heater in his cabin.

For its primitive nature we slept well in our digs - Mark would have appreciated a little more substantial padding on his wooden bed....  We're out of the rain and our hunger has been satiated.  I heard the weather is suppose to be better tomorrow.
