July 9

Left the hotel about 7:00AM -
The first 250 miles was rain and fog - a little grueling, but hey - no wind.... I'll take it!

The second half of the day was, once again filled with spectacular vistas around every turn.

You need to come here - yes, I mean you.  I know you, and you would totally love  this! The temps were even perfect for riding this afternoon. We ended the day where I thought, or rather my GPS thought I should be.... and I agreed. Cancelled previous reservation and stayed at the Double G.

Wait... I'll step back so you can see more than just the cabins...

Packed our stuff in - went back down and had Lois serve us some dinner....  homemade chicken noodle soup and Larry and I shared a salmon melt on homemade whole wheat bread - - - - 'with real Canadian cheddar from a block' we were told. Mark had the homemade chili.  We got 3 or 4 truckers sharing the small dining room before we left - they always know the best places to stay and eat.

We saw a bald eagle, bear, and deer today - and enjoyed some lovely roads as well as the scenery.  Just a couple to share before I hit the sack.

I hope you like the pictures but they hardly convey the awe that they inspired as we drove through the afternoon.....

It is going on midnight and I hope to be in Whitehorse tomorrow so another long day.

Miles: 524

It is good to see you making progress. 524miles on the AlCan is a big day. I hope the weather is much better than you seem to be having. I looking forward to seeing you in Fairbanks on Wednesday night!
