'Down Day' in Whitehorse - 'down day' sounds like relaxing but these days are a little more stressful - at least for me, as there is a good deal of trying to coordinate, get materials where they need to be, and waiting....
We started the day going to Listers - nice folks out at the end of 3rd Ave in Whitehorse to pick up new treads for our bikes. We each needed to strap tires on and take them across town to the Yukon Yamaha dealer where we could have them mounted.I think all but one of the tubes had some kind of fold in it ... hm... those tubes were really too big for the knobby tires we had on.
Larry and Mark took wheels off in the yard (nice cement pad though).
Decided to go next door to the renovated gas station for lunch..... the best fish and chips of the trip!
The whole process cost more and took a pretty long time, but we had good weather. Finally pulled out of Whitehorse and headed to Watson Lake. It was a delightful 260+ miles with great roads and tires that were happy to travel at speed. We sprinkles, sunshine, and rainbows - and the ever beautiful Yukon landscape. Yukon's motto is "Larger than Life" - well put.
.... I'm having difficulty uploading so you may have to wait for some of these pics. Really want to catch you up to where we are first.
Thanks for the update, all true good adventure has all these aspects!
